Powerful women, powerful message. 💪

So inspired by the Central Coast Mariners A-League Women's team and their dedication to the game.

This #InternationalWomensDay, we're highlighting the importance of #AccelerateAction towards gender equality.

We recently spent some time with the incredible Brooke Nunn and Jade Pennock who shared their insights on what IWD means to them. Check out their thoughts below:

 

Jade Pennock #7, Position: Attacker 

Q: What’s the one action you personally commit to help accelerate change / progress?

A: Coaching young girls and encouraging them to enjoy sport and break barriers.

 

Q: What message would you like to send to the next generation of women / girls?

A: Dream Big, you can do anything you put your mind to.

 

Q: What advice would you give young women looking to or dreaming of stepping into the role of a professional sportsperson?

A: Work hard & never give up. There will be set backs along the way but that’s part of the process.

 

Q: What barriers do you think still hold women back today, and how can we push for faster progress?

A: The funding within women’s sport is still way behind. The increase in media coverage will help with this.

 

Q: How do you think technology and social media can help OR does help accelerate action for gender equality?

A: It reaches a bigger audience so if used in a positive way, it’s a great way to promote equality across lot’s of different platforms.

 

Brooke Nunn #21, position: Attacker

 

Q: What’s the one action you personally commit to help accelerate change / progress?

A: I try to constantly spread positivity and share my stories of resilience.

 

Q: If you could change one thing overnight to create a more gender-equal world, what would it be?

A: Same pay and opportunities for both genders.

 

Q: What message would you like to send to the next generation of women and girls?

A: Girls / Women run the World 😊

 

Q: What advice would you give young women looking to or dreaming of stepping into the role of a professional sportsperson?
A: Always believe in yourself. If you can dream it, you can achieve it.

 

Q: What does “Accelerate Action” mean to you in the context of gender equality?

A: Get people more up to date and comfortable with the way the worlds changing. We are all human and equal.

 

Q: What barriers do you think still hold women back today and how can we push for faster progress?

There’s not as many equal opportunities in sport for women.

 

Q: How do you think technology and social media can help OR does help accelerate action for gender equality?
A: It spreads awareness if said the right way.
